Interior designer Natalia Poplavskaya designed an apartment in Kyiv. In a small space of 41 sq. m, the designer not only accommodated all the necessary functions—transforming a one-bedroom apartment into a two-bedroom unit with a separate walk-in closet—but also created a stylish, vibrant, and unique design. The compact apartment is rich in diverse design solutions. It cannot be said that this interior is for everyone; it is very individual. Style. The interior combines different styles. It is a modern interpretation of classic elements, and in combination with metal, the velvet sofa blends perfectly with the minimalist lighting. Thanks to the designer, all of this harmonizes perfectly. This 100% eclectic mix of styles aligns with current trends. And the trend itself can be described as ignoring trends, complete interior personalization, and vivid emotions. Emotions are reflected in colors, shapes, and textures. Layout. Compact housing is likely the most in-demand type on the market right now. There is also high demand for the design of such living spaces. The designer’s focus is on fitting all modern functionality into a small square footage without sacrificing comfort. A growing fatigue with minimalism is evident in global design. Monochrome interiors are also giving way to bright, contrasting interiors with colorful accents. All of this is present in this interior: a bright wall in the living room, walls in the kitchen and hallway adorned with cheerful wallpaper featuring monkeys from the English manufacturer “Cole & Son,” and mirrors. Plenty of decor—this is what reflects the latest trends. Unfortunately, it’s difficult for designers to reach the mass consumer, especially in residential spaces. Right now, our citizens are en masse creating “lofts,” even though this style is a “phase we’ve moved past” for designers.
