The Scandinavian style is winning over more and more hearts. European designers of furniture and interior finishes draw inspiration from their northern neighbors.
Why has this style become so popular?
Scandinavian style can be described in a few words: simple, minimalist, understated, and yet very stylish.
This is exactly how the interior design of this small apartment in Kyiv turned out. The apartment has a Scandinavian aesthetic, is bright, and features a subdued color palette.
The apartment is designed to accommodate four people (two parents and twin children). The clients wanted to keep all the rooms separate and preserve the large balcony. The children’s room is intended to be the central space in the apartment. This is where the whole family plans to spend their free time: doing homework, socializing, reading books, and watching TV on a cozy sofa. In addition to all the essentials, the parents’ bedroom also includes a workspace.
The medium-sized kitchen is practical and ergonomic. At the clients’ request, we kept the unheated balcony separate and did not incorporate it into the living area. The active family plans to store their bicycles and other equipment there.
When designing the space, the most important criterion was the practicality of each design solution. The result is an apartment where every square inch of space is functional, and the design is as practical as possible. And most importantly, as is characteristic of all Scandinavian interiors, despite the cool gray-and-white color palette, the interior turned out to be cozy and warm, thanks to the textures of natural wood in the furnishings.
