“Spring All Year Round”
Friends, I have some great news!
On December 6, at the annual All-Ukrainian architectural competition INTERIOR OF THE YEAR 2019, the fast-food restaurant PARKCAFE took first place in the HoReCa category!!!
Thank you to the international jury for their high praise—this year’s selection was no easy task! Over 850 entries were submitted, including 129 in the HoReCa (restaurants and hotels) category! It’s incredibly cool that our life-affirming interior design for the “PARKCAFE” café-dining hall is the best in the coolest category
Indescribable emotions ))) I’d love to do it again and again! This year, luck was on my side.
Everything just fell into place: the clients chose me, believed in this bold and unexpected project, we found the perfect venue, and most importantly, I had a burning desire to bring all these ideas to life! And we didn’t even go over budget! This is one of those cases where it’s not the budget that matters, but the idea! I’m absolutely thrilled that the international jury recognized the true value of this idea!

This new, bright, and cheerful fast-food restaurant interior did not come about by chance. Designer Natalia Poplavskaya began developing the concept in March 2019. After a long, gloomy winter, there was a strong desire for sunshine and spring. And the very name of the restaurant chain, “PARKCAFE,” hints at certain design choices and a specific style. The designer succeeded in giving the restaurant’s visitors a sense of spring and sunshine all year round.

Layout.
A high-quality interior and smart spatial planning are essential for commercial success. Before the renovation, the space was gloomy, dark, and had low ceilings.
The layout took into account the placement of the basement windows and the amount of natural light. Windows were only located on the facade walls, and there was insufficient natural light. Therefore, most of the windows were placed in the visitor hall and the kitchen, where people work.
The old ceiling was also removed, which allowed for a ceiling height of 4.6 m at its highest point. All wiring and ventilation ducts were exposed.

As we enter the establishment, we walk past the bar and the high bar tables and arrive at the pickup counter, which is separated by the cash registers.

Every establishment has certain spots that fill up first. Metal booths are exactly that. Even though they’re in a high-traffic area, near a noisy zone, and lack natural light, they’re the visitors’ favorite spots.

The color scheme plays a key role in setting the overall mood. It features a combination of pastel shades of mint and coral. All this softness and subtle playfulness is balanced by plenty of natural greenery.

The fast-food restaurant’s concept is built around a unique color scheme based on two colors and their various shades.
Coral pink and mint green are colors recognized as trends for 2019.
The interior’s main background consists of pastel colors, accented by statement furniture and accessories. These two colors are complemented by white and light gray.
From a commercial standpoint, the dining room in the Business Center turned out to be quite an investment. There are many unique “design-defining” solutions and expensive materials that were used in the interior.
