The mainselling point of this apartment is its unique floor plan. A well-designed layout is the foundation for a future interior that is both attractive and functional.
A classic situation these days: a one-room apartment has two windows, but everyone wants a separate bedroom, kitchen, and living room. And often, the sleeping area ends up windowless, tucked away in some niche behind curtains or partitions. When a client comes to a designer, they already have a rough idea in mind, but it isn’t quite right, and they don’t know how to make it work.
The main challenge in this apartment was how to carve out space for a full-sized bed and a proper sleeping area, while, according to the client, a large bedroom wasn’t necessary. Thanks to the absence of load-bearing walls, pillars, and ventilation ducts in the middle of the apartment, we were able to offer the client a wide range of different remodeling options.
Natalia Poplavskaya came up with a bold solution: she created a bedroom in the space originally designated for the kitchen, while the kitchen was relocated to the living room, taking into account the need for connections to the sewer system and ventilation. The designer came up with this idea while taking measurements of the apartment. The client was clearly not prepared for such a solution, and said, “I’m so glad I hired you to lead this project; now I can rest easy.” Words like these are a huge motivator in our work! In the end, out of 8 options, the client chose the one that was also our favorite. Thanks to the successful redesign, a layout emerged that allowed us to unify the space.

An interesting design feature is the furniture layout that begins at the entrance and extends into the living room. It includes wardrobes; one of the doors leads to the bathroom, while the rest of the unit connects to the kitchen, with a built-in refrigerator concealed within one of the cabinets. The wardrobe at the entrance serves as a partition, and a kitchen island table adjoins it on the back side. This complex design was brought to life by Lyudmila Talanova’s Furniture Studio. A huge sofa from the Ukrainian manufacturer Comforto sits comfortably in the corner of the room opposite the kitchen and is not immediately visible from the entrance.
The focal point of the living room is a coral-colored wall, which, according to Pantone , was named the Color of the Year for 2019. Paintings hang on the wall, unifying the color scheme of the interior. The color scheme is always the client’s preference. The apartment features a contrasting design, dominated by dark blue and black tones.
The living room is highlighted by a kitchen island made of beautiful Nero Marquina marble with an island range hood. The countertop was crafted by Good Stone. The coffee table and TV stand are by KARE.
The bedroom turned out to be fully equipped, featuring a large sleeping area (with a 180 cm wide mattress), two nightstands on either side, and a spacious wardrobe. The bedroom is adorned with a mirror Calligaris.
The accent walls in the bedroom and living room are decorated with decorative elements from the Orac Decor.
The interior decor features furnishings from KARE, Calligaris, and a clock by NOMON.
